Wingham place making project

Project Highlights

JOC Consulting was commissioned by Wingham Chamber of Commerce and MidCoast Council to deliver a place making project for Wingham as part of the Future Towns initiative. Wingham is located 4hrs north of Sydney outside Taree in the Manning Valley. The project focused on design improvements to Wingham’s public spaces including parks, arcades and footpaths.

JOC Consulting managed and facilitated a business workshop, separate community workshop, 3 school workshops (with primary and high schools) and have provided ongoing collaborative support for the Chamber and Council.

JOC Consulting coordinated an ‘Activation Blitz’ weekend to deliver a dozen great ideas suggested during the engagement period. The weekend was also an opportunity for the community to review and add any last minute ideas on the Place Making Strategy ahead of its finalisation and adoption by Council. The Place Making Strategy included design recommendations for precincts across the Wingham CBD to help inform future improvements and enhancements to public space.

The Place Making Strategy has been finalised with priority actions currently being implemented by the community based Wingham Place Making Committee and Council.
